Delete your account
Last updated 7 September 2026.
You can delete your Zeroly account yourself, from inside the app, in two taps. You do not need to email us, and we will not ask you why.
How to delete it
In the app
Account → Delete account → Delete
You will be asked to sign in again first. That is deliberate: it stops someone who picks up an unlocked phone from destroying your history.
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, write to support@zeroly.app from the email address on the account and we will delete it for you. We may need to confirm it is you before we do.
What happens
Deleted, within 30 days
- Your name, email address and profile photo.
- Your account itself, and your sign-in with Apple or Google. Where the provider allows it, we revoke our access token on their side too, so the connection is severed from both ends.
- Receipt images you uploaded.
- Notification tokens for every device you signed in on.
- Your friend connections and any invitations you created.
- Any group where you were the only member.
Encrypted backups are purged on their own rolling schedule shortly afterwards.
Kept, and why
Expenses and payments you added to shared groups stay, attributed to "Deleted user."
This is the one thing we do not remove, and it is worth explaining rather than burying.
Suppose you paid a $200 hotel bill on a trip with four friends and split it five ways. If deleting your account erased that expense, each of your friends' balances would silently change by $40. They would not be told, and the numbers they had already agreed and settled against would no longer add up. A record of money is only useful if it cannot be rewritten from one side.
So the entry remains, with your name replaced. It is no longer linked to you, your email, or any account.
Outstanding balances
We never block deletion because you owe money or are owed it. We will tell you what is outstanding before you confirm, so you are not deleting by surprise, and then we proceed if you say so. Zeroly is a record, not a creditor — settling up is between you and the people involved, and it is not our place to hold your account hostage over it.
Your subscription
Deleting your Zeroly account does not cancel a Zeroly Plus subscription, because subscriptions are held by Apple, not by us. Cancel it separately in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device, or it will keep renewing.
Take your data with you first
Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it. If you want a copy, export before you delete: Zeroly exports your groups, expenses, payments and balances as CSV or JSON, which opens in any spreadsheet.
